Book Buddies

Grades 3-5

Kids in grades 3-5 are invited to join us at the Rensselaer Library for our “Book Buddies” Book Club meetings, held every three months.

Children's Book Week

Established in 1919, Children's Book Week is the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country. Every year, commemorative events are held nationwide at schools, libraries, bookstores, homes -- wherever young readers and books connect!

JCPL is going to the FAIR

The Jasper County Public Library will be at the Jasper County Fair, July 20-27, 2019.

All ages are invited to join us and meet library staff as we offer charging stations, craft activities, daily, random prize giveaways and a Spinning Wheel Game, where everyone is a winner!

Our libraries will be open normal hours this week as well.

Lapsit Storytime

Age birth-2

Enjoy 30-40 minutes of reading, songs, fingerplays, and socialization with other yong children and their caregivers. Each session of Lapsit Story Time consists of a variety of activities, such as music, stories, toys to play with and other fun movements.

National Library Card Sign-up Month

September is Library Card Sign-up Month - a time when the American Library Association and libraries across the country remind parents that a library card is the most important school supply of all.

So, join us as we take this opportunity, observed since 1987, to celebrate your passport to fun and adventure; your library card!

National Library Week

All three branches of the Jasper County Public Library are celebrating National Library Week, April 10-15, 2017 with a variety of programs and prize drawings.

Story Time

Ages 3-5

Bring your youngsters in touch with the love of reading by coming to Story Time for 3-5 Year Olds at the Wheatfield Library. Story Time is a wonderful opportunity for your youngsters to become acquainted with the library.

Each half hour long session of Story Time consists of stories, crafts, and other age appropriate activities.

Story Time

Ages 2-5

Library Kids and Toddlers alike are invited to enjoy stories, rhymes and crafts at the Rensselaer Library’s next Story Time.

This program, open to children ages 2-5, meets Tuesdays at 10 a.m. or Thursday at 6 p.m. every week except the last Tuesday and Thursday of the month. Registration is required, and seating is limited.

Third Thursday Club

Grades 1-5

Open to grades 1-5, this monthly educational program includes reading plus fun food and craft activities relating to the theme.

Registration is required and space is limited. This program meets the third Thursday of the month at 4 p.m.

Toddler Time

Ages 2-3

Reading to toddlers enhances their love of books and the magical characters that come alive for them, page after page.

Acquaint your 2 to 3-year-olds with the library and the love of reading by bringing them to Toddler Time.

This special program consists of stories, songs, crafts and other fun activities for this age group.

Virtual Storytime

We have been working hard to record virtual Story Times geared towards ages 2-5, but all are invited to watch.

Our Story Times will be able to view starting at 10 am on Mondays and Wednesdays from June 1- June 24.

They can be viewed at
